Why U.S granted protected status to terrorists

The US State Department officially considers a group of 3,800 Marxist Iranian rebels - who once killed several Americans and was supported by Saddam Hussein - "terrorists." But the same group, under American guard in an Iraqi camp, was just accorded a new status by the Pentagon: "protected persons" under the Geneva Convention. This strange twist, analysts say, underscores the divisions in Washington over US strategy in the Middle East and the war against terrorism.

After his arrest, Massoud Rajavi led the fight from his jail cell while selling the top members to SAVAK. He rose to the highest positions of the movement, due to the execution of the chiefs of the PMOI." Like the People's Fedayeen, the PMOI organized 'communes' in the prisons. These functioned as support groups, sharing meals and common cells. Above all, they developed as study groups and for spectacular actions reported outside including hunger strikes.

A Not-So-Diplomatic Turn

Finally, Daniel Pipes, a leading neoconservative, has also openly called on the Bush administration to support the Mojahedin-e-Khalq (MEK), a cultish, schizophrenic, and dictatorial organization that is featured on the U.S. State Department's very own list of foreign terrorist organizations. Pipes and other neoconservative-minded Iran commentators, such as Patrick Clawson at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Strong national willpower needed for the expulsion of MKO

Sheikh Rushdi Al Jomaili, head of Jomail tribe in Falujah, said: The issue of deporting MKO terrorists from Iraq requires a strong national willpower to make all Iraqis aware of different aspects of MKO disastrous presence in Iraq. We should establish a cultural front in Iraq in order to expel MKO terrorists from the country in a definite timetable.

US and MEK: Blurring friends and enemies

The United States of America has consistently and historically championed itself as a preeminent nation in the world. However, since recent international and domestic events left the US in a more precarious position, they are desperately making friends with unlikely groups. Instead of attempting to bridge the gaps between Iran and the US, the American government has been funding the MEK terrorists under a guise of 'democracy promotion' in Iran.

Autopsy of an ideological drift

The Sixties, the time of the PMOI's birth, are defined in black and white. Perhaps the colors red and white would be more accurate since the East-West conflict deeply divided the mid-20th Century world. On one side, the Soviet bloc under Moscow's command gathered in the Warsaw Pact. It was held together by a rigid Marxist- Leninist orthodoxy. On the other, stood the western countries inside the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) led by the United States.

Legitimizing terror

Well, many unfortunate things have happened in the UK during the past few years, but one of the most disgraceful of them all was court of appeal’ ruling that the people’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI - also known as a the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization, MEK or MKO) should be removed from the government's blacklist of terrorist organizations.

Iran widow must go to trial in NY on terror charge

NEW YORK (AP) — A naturalized U.S. citizen accused of helping to lead an Iranian terrorist group must face trial on a charge of providing material support to terrorism, a federal judge ruled Thursday. U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan denied a defense motion to dismiss the case against Zeinab Taleb-Jedi, who was arrested in 2006 at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Defense attorneys argued that prosecuting her violated Taleb-Jedi's civil rights.

Fear and intimidation inside cults

Cult leadership is feared. To disagree with leadership is the same as disagreeing with God. The cult leaders will claim to have direct authority from God to control almost all aspects of your life. If the cult is not a religious group, then questioning the leaders or program will still be seen as a sign of rebellion and stupidity. Guilt, Character Assassination and Breaking Sessions: Guilt will be used to control you. Maybe the reason you're not making money is because you're not "with the programme".

While the French are tracking down the People's Mojahedin, m, despite its ups and downs, continues a policy of change. Will Tehran, with its powerful position in the region, become a priority for American diplomatic initiatives? After all, on 7 May 2003, 153 the 290 members of the Majlis, the Iranian parliament, voted for normalization of international relations and more internal reform. An open letter cited by Agene France Press (AFP) they were looking for greater support at home and abroad.
